This video comes along with other articles I wrote where I already gave many addresses (see HERE , HERE and THERE). Given my articles about Maastricht are the ones with more views, I thought it would be nice to illustrate it through a vlog.
Donc voici une vidéo regroupant quelques rues principales du centre de Maastricht. Evidemment, je n’ai pas fait la ville dans son entièreté, il y a encore plus mais mes pieds ont leur limite voyez-vous. Si j’y retourne, je ferai peut-être un vlog sur les « parties manquantes ».
So here is a video gathering some of the main streets around Maastricht city center. Of course, I wasn’t able to do the whole city center, my feet have their limits you know… But if I come back there, I’ll try to vlog the missing areas.
En attendant, vous avez dans un premier temps la Place du Marché (Markt/ Stadhuis van Maastricht) de Maastricht où, si je ne me trompe pas, il y a un marché le vendredi. Les échoppes que vous voyez ne sont pas le marché puisqu’il prend toute la place. Ca vous donne une idée.
So first, you can see the Market Place (Markt. Stadhuis van Maastricht) of Maastricht where there’s a big market on Friday mornings. The little stalls you see is only a tiny part of what is there on Friday mornings…
Frozz & Oodlz est un petit magasin qui propose des yoghourt glacés ainsi que différents types de nouilles que l’on peut agrémenter soi-même. Il se trouve dans la Nieuwstraat où se trouvent aussi un H&M Accessories et un superbe magasin de déco (Lifestyle Home Collection). La Nieuwstraat est une des rues partant de la place du Marché et donnant sur une des rues principales de Maastricht: Grote Straat.
Frozz & Oodlz is a small shop where you can buy frozen yogourt as well as noodles. It is located in Nieuwstraat where you can also find a H&M « Accessories » and a lovely interior decoration boutique (Lifestyle Home Collection). Nieuwstraat is one of the streets connecting the Market Place to Grote Straat, one of the main streets.
En sortant de la Nieuwstraat, un Steve Madden fait le coin avec la Grote Straat. Là, je pense qu’il faut en profiter, le Steve Madden le plus proche de Liège après celui de Maastricht, il se trouve à Anvers (à moins qu’un autre ait ouvert à Bruxelles mais je ne crois pas et c’est quand même plus loin).
At the corner of Nieuwstraat and Grote Street, there’s a Steve Madden shop which we don’t have in Liège and I’m not sure there’s one in Brussels (but you can find one in Antwerpen).
Sur la Grote Straat, là, c’est la fête: The Body Shop, Lush, Douglas (hé oui!), le V&D qui regroupe La Place (avec un resto au dernier étage), Accessorize, de super départements déco,… Un Hema gigantesque est aussi présent dans la rue ainsi qu’un Sacha et d’autres magasins de chaussures.
In Grote Straat, there are plenty of shops: The Body Shop, Lush, Douglas, V&D with La Place (and a bigger restaurant at the very last floor, Accessorize, very nice home decoration departments, … In front of the V&D, there’s also a huuuuge Hema along with Sacha Shoes and many other shops.
Dans la Spilstraat (parallèle à la Nieuwstraat), vous trouverez un Scotch & Soda et si vous continuez vers la place du Marché, sur votre gauche, vous verrez tout un complexe en bois avec Mango, un autre H&M, Zara, etc. Ca n’est pas sur la vidéo mais ça vaut la peine d’aller y jeter un oeil.
In Spilstraat (parallel street to Nieuwstraat), you’ll find a Scotch & Soda and if you go on in the direction of the Market Place, you’ll see on your left a huge wooden commercial structure with shops such as H&M, Mango, Zara, etc. It’s not on the video but it’s really worth it.
Si vous revenez sur vos pas, à droite du V&D se trouve une toute petite rue (Sporenstraat) avec deux jolis magasins de déco menant sur une jolie petite place (Sint Amorsplein) au coin de laquelle vous trouverez Clio, une bijouterie haut de gamme avec des marques telles que Isabel Marrant mais aussi des superbes camées ainsi qu’une grande terrasse tenue par Falstaf qui sert d’appétissantes tapas.
If you come back to Grote Straat, on the right of the V&D commercial center, there’s a narrow street (Sporenstraat) with two lovely home decoration boutiques. Sporenstraat leads to a cute small place (Sint Amorsplein). At the corner of Sporenstraat and Sint Amorsplein, you’ll find a high end jewelry store with brands such as Isabel Marrant but also nice vintage-antiquities inspired jewels. On the place, there’s also a big terrace belonging to Falstaf which serves a very wide choice of beers and tapas.
Ensuite, je suis revenue vers la Kleine Straat où se trouvent Swarovsky, Claudia Sträter et Soap Stories. Je vous parlerai de Soap Stories dans un autre article d’ailleurs. Au bout à gauche, vous avez la Maastrichter Brugstraat qui donne sur un joli pont devenu piétonnier. Dans la Maastrichter Brugstraat se trouvent pas mal de beaux magasins plus « haut de gamme » avec Tommy Hilfiger, des bijouteries de luxe, de la déco (ils adorent la déco ces hollandais), etc. Si vous vous mettez dos au pont, vous verrez le De Bijenkorf où se trouve un MAC corner mais aussi plein d’autres marques de luxe comme Michael Kors, Chanel, Ciaté, …
I then came back to Kleine Straat where there are Swarovsky, Claudia Sträter, Pro Invito and Soap Stories (which I’ll write about later on). On the left, you’ll see Maastricht Brugstraat which leads to a lovely bridge. In the Maastricht Brugstraat, there are several high end boutiques such as Tommy Hilfiger, jewelries, decoration (again, yes, they like home decoration in The Netherlands!). If you go on the opposite direction of the bridge, you’ll see another kind of mall: De Bijenkorf, where there’s a MAC corner but also many other brans such as Michaël Kors, Chanel, Ciaté,…
Voilà-voilà! Comme je vous l’ai dit, c’est loin d’être tout mais vous avez déjà pas mal pour vous balader une après-midi. N’hésitez pas à vous engager dans des petites rues, il y a de magnifiques petits magasins bien cachés qui en valent souvent la peine.
And I think that’s it for the moment! Even if it’s not the whole city center, don’t hesitate to explore narrow streets in Maastricht. They usually hide very nice clothes and shoes shops.
Et pour finir, je vous rappelle qu’ils commencent leurs soldes un bon gros mois avant nous…
To finish with, I remind you that they use to start the sales period one month before we do (so in December and in June)…
